Chiswick’s Napoli on the Road has retained its title as the best pizzeria in Europe (outside of Italy) at this year 50 Top Pizza Europa Awards.
Chef Michele Pascarella was in Madrid this Wednesday (4 June) to receive the award with his establishment also bagging the prize for "Pizza of the Year" for its creation Ricordi d'Infanzia . This includes slow-cooked ragu with beef, topped with Parmigiano Reggiano DOP, fondue and basil.
Michele said, “Winning for a second year means more than I can say. Taking first place in 2024 changed my life, and it’s an honour to receive this recognition once again.”
The awards took place at the Fundación Pablo VI and local favourite Baldoria in Madrid secured the second spot and was recognized as the best pizzeria in Spain .

The top 20 pizzerias from this European ranking will automatically qualify for the global 50 Top Pizza World Awards, scheduled for 8 September in Naples .
Napoli on the Road was named World Pizza Maker of the Year 2023 by 50 Top Pizza and Best International, and Pizza Maker 2024 by the Accademia Nazionale Pizza DOC.
Michele has been making pizzas since he was 11 helping out in his parents’ restaurant in Caserta and started his own business driving around in a three-wheel Ape Piaggio truck complete with a wood-fired oven, making pizzas at markets across London. He changes his menu almost entirely every three months, to make use of seasonal ingredients and work with local suppliers.
