Turnham Green Terrace is set for a fresh chapter as Little Sourdough Kitchen (LSK) submits plans to refurbish the unit formerly occupied by Laurents at numbers 26-28.

T The proposal marks the arrival of the brand’s second London bakery, following its successful debut in Fulham earlier this year, and promises a carefully crafted shopfront and interior designed to celebrate the art of sourdough.

The bakery is the creation of chef Phil Howard, food entrepreneur Julian Dyer and artisan baker Ben Costello, whose open-kitchen approach has already earned a loyal following. Their vision for the Chiswick site is a place to buy exceptional bread, viennoiserie and deli staples, alongside coffee, seven days a week. It aims to be is a working bakery with visible craft at its heart.

The existing deli-café layout will not be fundamentally altered, with the back-of-house retained and refreshed. The front-of-house will be reshaped to create a bakery where production is part of the customer experience. The moment visitors step inside, they will see bakers at work: dough being shaped, loaves rising, pastries prepared. Moveable benches on lockable castors will allow the kitchen to adapt throughout the day.

Natural oak, tactile ceramic tiles and white marble will aim to create a space that feels crafted rather than decorated. The bread display, a bespoke oak installation, gives loaves pride of place and reinforces the bakery’s focus on its central product.

The existing ramped entrance will be retained and finished with new materials, ensuring independent access for wheelchair users.

Existing brickwork will be repainted in a muted fascia colour, complemented by new wall lights and a refreshed terrace area.

One of the most distinctive features is the new coffee-to-go window, positioned to serve commuters heading to and from Turnham Green station. Framed in warm encaustic yellow tiles, the window offers a quick, efficient service point for morning coffees and pastries without requiring customers to enter the main bakery.

Should the plans be approved Little Sourdough Kitchen will be a short walk away from the already popular Frankie’s and Debbie Jo which opened just under a year ago.
