The Tabard Theatre enters the final fortnight of the smash hit musical Who Put the Bomp? With news of awards recognition. The in-house production, already hailed as has now secured its place among the finalists for the 2026 London Pub Theatres Standing Ovation Awards.

This year’s shortlist sees the Tabard achieve an extraordinary seven finalist positions across six categories, a testament to the theatre’s growing reputation for inventive, high-quality work. With only three or four finalists chosen in each category, the breadth of Tabard representation is striking: The Railway Children, HMS Pinafore, Dead Guilty, Round About Hogarth and Who Put the Bomp? all appear on the final list, alongside visiting production Masterclass and the forthcoming Orwell: The Road to 1984. Following last year’s triumph, when the Tabard was named London Pub Theatre of the Year, this new round of nominations confirms the theatre’s continued momentum and the creative strength of its in-house team.

At the centre of that success is Who Put the Bomp?, which has been playing to packed houses and gathering a growing collection of glowing reviews. Critics have praised the show’s freshness and energy, with Bohemian Britain awarding five stars and celebrating the production’s “zing” and the way it “fairly explodes off the stage”. ChiswickW4.com’s reviewer Susan Stanley-Carroll says it will blow your socks off and plans to return for another performance.

The nominations for the ensemble cast have added an extra spark to the run, highlighting the emerging talent that has made the show such a hit. With performances continuing from Tuesday to Saturday until 7 November, tickets are selling quickly as word spreads and the awards spotlight intensifies.

Beyond Who Put the Bomp?, the Tabard’s season continues at full pace. Next Sunday sees the return of Hambledon Productions with The Phantom Raspberry Blower of Old London Town, already sold out for both performances. New shows are also arriving on sale, including Nick Bromley’s illustrated exploration Stage Ghosts and Haunted Theatres on 8 November, and the powerful biographical drama Orwell: The Road to 1984, coming in February and March next year.
