The Tabard Theatre has announced the full cast for Girl Out of the Blue, a new drama by Giles Cole that will run from 23 September to 10 October. Produced by Alexander “Sandy” Marshall and Close Quarter Productions, and directed by Jonas Cemm, the play brings together an accomplished ensemble of stage and screen actors for what promises to be one of the theatre's standout productions this autumn.
The cast features Sarah Berger as Beth, Seeta Indrani as Maya, Jonathan Sidgwick as Doug, and Miranda Braun as Abi — the mysterious “girl” at the heart of the story. Between them, the company's credits span the Royal Shakespeare Company, the National Theatre, the Old Vic, major touring productions and some of British television's most recognisable dramas.
Girl Out of the Blue is described as an emotionally charged exploration of secrets, lies and the long shadows cast by past choices. The play examines how hidden truths can shape the present and asks whether forgiveness and reconciliation are ever truly possible.
Berger brings decades of experience to the role of Beth, with five West End appearances and three seasons at the RSC, alongside screen roles in An Inspector Calls, Jeffrey Bernard Is Unwell, Holby City, New Tricks and Midsomer Murders. Indrani, who created the role of Cassandra in the original London production of Cats, is well known for her long-running part in The Bill and appearances in Vera, DCI Banks and Unforgotten. Sidgwick's career includes collaborations with Steven Berkoff at the Old Vic and Nottingham Playhouse, as well as roles in EastEnders, Father Brown, Coronation Street and Hollyoaks. Braun's recent work includes Not Quite Jerusalem at the Finborough Theatre, BBC Radio 4's English Rose, and a tour of A Midsummer Night's Dream with the East London Shakespeare Festival.
Director Jonas Cemm said the play “speaks to anyone who has ever wrestled with family, identity and belonging,” adding that he was thrilled to be working with “such an exceptional cast” at the Tabard.
Marshall's recent UK productions include The Price and The Government Inspector at the Marylebone Theatre, Interview at Riverside Studios and Dr Strangelove at the Noël Coward Theatre. His producing credits also extend to Broadway, with shows including Glengarry Glen Ross, Hangmen and Morning's at Seven.
Girl Out of the Blue runs Tuesday to Saturday at the Tabard Theatre from 23 September to 10 October.
