Headliners Comedy Club reaches its twenty-fifth anniversary season this September, and it is marking the event with a special gala performance headlined by Omid Djalili.
What began as a bold experiment in a converted warehouse in 2002 behind the George IV has grown into one of London’s most respected comedy rooms, a place where top comedians test their sharpest material, and careers quietly gather momentum long before the wider world catches on.
Headliners was created as a purpose-built space for stand-up, with proper sightlines and sound. Over the years it has hosted thousands of shows and welcomed many of the biggest names in British comedy, often before they became household figures. Michael McIntyre, Jimmy Carr, Bill Bailey, Al Murray, Lee Mack, Sara Millican, Omid Djalili, Alan Carr, John Bishop, Sean Lock, Harry Hill and Rob Brydon have all appeared on its stage sometimes as surprise guests.
The club’s longevity owes much to its founder Simon Randall, whose programming has always balanced rising stars with established favourites, creating a blend that keeps audiences returning week after week. In a city where comedy nights come and go, Headliners has endured by staying true to its original purpose: a high-quality, professionally run room where the craft of stand-up is taken seriously.
To mark its twenty-five years, Headliners is staging a celebratory month of shows throughout September, beginning with a birthday spectacular on the 4th and 5th featuring Omid Djalili, a big-name act who has performed many times at the Chiswick venue before.
He will be joined by Stephen K Amos, Kate Barron and Paddy Lennox as MC, forming a line-up that reflects both the club’s history and its ongoing commitment to showcasing top-tier talent.
The anniversary celebrations continue across the month. On Friday 11 September the bill features Mark Steel, Jordan Brookes, Otiz Cannelloni and Ollie Horn as MC, followed on Saturday 12 September by Paul Tonkinson, Jordan Brookes, Otiz Cannelloni and Ollie Horn. The weekend of 18 and 19 September brings Milton Jones, Phil Nichol, Ian Stone and Ray Badran on the Friday, with Phil Nichol, Slim, Ian Stone and Ray Badran returning on the Saturday. The final weekend, 25 and 26 September, offers a Gala Showcase with Bobby Mair, Javier Jarquin, Ben Silver, Mike Capozzola, Laura Moss, Kyle Brownrigg and others on the Friday, and Bobby Mair, Javier Jarquin, Ben Silver, Mike Capozzola, Laura Moss and Nicky G on the Saturday.
Across these four weekends, the programme reads like a condensed history of the club itself: a mix of familiar faces and inventive newcomers.
