Registrations have officially opened for the 2026 Chiswick House Dog Show, marking the return of one of London’s most cherished community events. The show will take place on Sunday 20 September on the cricket pitch in the gardens of Chiswick House, where thousands of dog lovers are expected to gather.

Now in its twenty-second year, the show has grown into one of the capital’s largest volunteer-run dog events, raising vital funds for Chiswick House & Gardens Trust. Seventeen competition classes offer every dog a chance to shine, from Waggiest Tail and Best Rescue to Golden Oldie, Naughtiest Dog and My Dog’s Got Talent. Class winners will go forward to compete for the coveted Best in Show title. This year’s Fancy Dress theme takes inspiration from the television series The Traitors, promising a parade of inventive costumes from both dogs and their owners.

Beyond the competitions, visitors can enjoy the lively Doggy Dash, shopping stalls, food and drink, expert exhibitors and family activities. Entry is free for spectators, and organisers recommend early registration as many classes sell out in advance.

Xanthe Arvanitakis, Director of Chiswick House & Gardens Trust, said the show embodies the spirit of the local community, celebrating the bond between people and their dogs while supporting the care of the historic gardens. She noted that this year’s event coincides with the launch of the Trust’s new community Learning Hub & Yard, which will welcome thousands of visitors for activities promoting wellbeing and connection.

Committee member Jane Dormer said the show demonstrates what can be achieved when volunteers come together, creating a joyful day out for all ages and supporting one of London’s most beautiful parks.

All proceeds from the event help maintain and conserve Chiswick House & Gardens, ensuring the 65-acre landscape remains open and free for everyone.

Registration costs £6 per dog per class, with full details available at chiswickhousedogshow.co.uk.
