Chiswick's MAGA man says a 'sizeable minority' support him
May 12, 2025
There has, to say the least, been a mixed reaction to Chiswick High Road’s ‘MAGA Man’ who has been regularly appearing in the centre of town recently.
Kenny Given has been visiting once every two weeks, either on a Saturday or a Sunday taking up a position near the vacant unit next to Marks & Spencer.
Playing upbeat American music on a Bluetooth speaker, he loudly voices support for Donald Trump, sometimes doing his trademark dance, leading to passersby smiling with amusement, some nervously avoiding catching his eye as if he was a charity chugger, the occasional thumbs up and shout of encouragement and, every so often, a person wholly unable to control their rage at his presence.
The man underneath the red baseball cap is 43-year-old Edinburgh-born Kenny Given who lives in Acton. His previous claim to fame was as a regular caller to George Galloway’s MOATS (Mother of All Talks Shows) call-in show where he was known as ‘Kenny from Acton’ until he was banned, he says for condemning Hamas.
He ticks all the boxes of the Make America Great Again movement with his adoration of Donald Trump, unwavering support for the state of Israel and a contempt for the ‘woke left’. It is the latter that it is the target of his visits to Chiswick which he says is busier and more left leaning than Acton. Before he started his displays, he had visited the High Road often and noticed the dirty looks he got for his MAGA cap, so one day he decided to bring an American flag and play Trump’s address to Congress on a speaker.
He says, “This is my way of rubbing victory into the noses of the ‘woke’ left and also letting others, who feel the same way as I do know, you’re not alone and we are the resistance and we are WINNING.”

Although most people walking along the High Road ignore him and many express disapproval, sometimes quite forcefully, according to Mr Given, a ‘sizeable minority’ of people in Chiswick agree with him and many ask to take a photo with him. He has been told that people agree with him that a Donald Trump is being needed in the UK. One woman from Egypt came up to him to say she also was a Trump supporter particularly on the issue of trans rights.
On the other hand, an American woman who regularly passes by gives him the finger and verbal abuse. The last time he turned up another woman confronted him with a cardboard sign saying, “Trump is a fascist, trans rights are human rights, Free Palestine”.
On his last visit to Chiswick he was met with a counterprotest
The police have not spoken to him about his presence and the only interaction he has had is when an officer reminded one of his antagonists that he was entitled to free speech.
On issues such as the damage caused to the British economy by Trump’s tariffs and the undermining of the NATO alliance by his administration, Mr Given claimed a lack of knowledge but added, “Being a Donald Trump supporter doesn’t mean agreeing with everything that he and JD Vance say. I’m sure it’s not bad enough that I’m all of a sudden going to start supporting the Democrats.”
Mr Given is also a Reform UK supporter and admires Nigel Farage every bit as much as Trump describing the two as friends. He is looking forward to Farage leading a UK government particularly after his party’s stunning success in the recent council elections. He bridles at any suggestion that he and the party are ‘far-right’ saying that he has voted Labour in the past and supported Scottish independence in the 2014 Referendum. He describes his political views as common sense and claims there has been a general move to the right due to ‘trans madness’ and the 7 October massacre.
His playlist when he is out on the High Road is eclectic although there is little from after the end of the eighties.
He says, “I like to play some music that sets an positive American nostalgia theme, like Back To The Future's Power Of Love by Huey Lewis and Survivor's Eye Of The Tiger as an tribute to Donald Trump's unwavering bravery to keep on fighting after being shot and doing a rallies literally just days after and also YMCA as it has become the Trump theme which he dances to at the end of his rallies. I also play some classical music as well to create a dramatic and triumphant tone.
“I don't like today's music much. I find it shallow and narcissistic and lacks heart and soul. “
He has no plans to stop his regular appearances though going forward he says that he will shift emphasis from support for Trump to support for Farage and Reform particularly as the next General Election draws near although he concedes the party has little chance of winning in the Chiswick area or in seats in London more generally.
