Residents delighted after development plans are stopped by Public Inquiry Decision
Residents of Hartington Court are "delighted" after a Public Inquiry decision disallowed the freeholder’s appeal prohibiting him from adding extra floors to the building.
Hartington Court is a Thames-side art deco block dating from the 1930’s which has 56 apartments and is located in the Grove Park area of Chiswick.
Commenting on the decision, one resident said "This has saved the building, riverside and Grove Park conservation area from irreparable damage."
The Residents Association have been fighting the freeholder since 2000 and have managed to successfully oppose three planning applications.
"The residents would particularly like to thank the West London River Group, LB Hounslow, Ann Keen MP and all the local people and conservation groups who have supported us. It made a real difference that there were hundred of letters supporting our position” said Adam Richardson, Chairman of the Hartington Court Residents Association.
The residents have set up a company to buy the freehold and are attending a Court hearing before the end of the year, where the court will adjudicate a purchase price for the freehold.
