Police investigating the murder of a 24-year-old man in Wandsworth on Tuesday (25 April) have released a 30-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman from custody. The pair were arrested the day after the attack in the Walworth area but police now say that no further action will be taken against them.
A post-mortem carried out this Wednesday has revealed that the victim died of a single stab wound to the heart. He has not yet been named though his next of kin have been informed.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene near the junction with Allfarthing Lane at around 7.30pm. At this early stage it is believed he became involved in an altercation involving a group in Melody Road before being stabbed.
The area around Melody Road, Allfarthing Lane, Heathfield Road and Heathfield Gardens remained closed off the morning after the incident.
Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command, led by Detective Chief Inspector Sam Price, are investigating.
Wandsworth Police that patrol reinforcements have been requested from the Metropolitan Police Taskforce. They said, "Due to the level of violent crime in our borough lately MetTaskforce have been kindly assisting us with high-vis patrols across Wandsworth."
Police released information this week that a man was stabbed in neighbouring Allfarthing Lane in an apparently motiveless attack on 8 April.
