Public Exhibition in Southfields this weekend as local MP gets involved
Local MP Justine Greening yesterday met with planning representatives of Gresham Pension Trustees Ltd who recently bought the former Rileys Snooker Hall in Wimbledon Park Road, Southfields.
Justine was updated on their plans to redevelop the site, which include a potential proposal for a cinema being campaigned for by The Southfields Plaza Steering Group. Although plans are at an early stage, Gresham's planning consultants Indigo Planning have organised an exhibition for the public to view their initial proposals.
Justine said: “Indigo have met with the Plaza Group to discuss their ideas for a cinema which I very much welcome. I know many local residents have been interested in this site’s development and possibility of a cinema and I would encourage local residents to go along to the exhibition so they can put their questions and ideas to Indigo directly.”
Rob Richman of The Southfields Plaza Steering Group said: “The residents of Southfields are embracing the opportunities presented by the coalition ideals of localism and The Big Society. With the keen support of Justine Greening, our councillors and the council planners we have a fantastic chance to persuade property developers to the principal of enlightened self-interest and create (included in their development) a first-class cultural amenity for Southfields and the surrounding areas.”
The exhibition will be held at Southfields Baptist Church Hall, Wimbledon Park Road on Friday 16 September from 3:30pm to 8:30pm and Saturday 17 September from 12:00pm to 2:30pm.
If you have some questions you would like to put to Indigo but are unable to attend the exhibition, you can contact Justine at greeningj@parliament.uk to follow up your concerns.
