Results the second highest in the borough
Local students are celebrating a record year as the borough’s A-Level results improved again. Provisional figures show that 74.7 per cent of results were in the higher grades of A-C, up from 71.5 per cent last year.
Wandsworth’s 3.2 per cent improvement in A-C grades is well ahead of the national average, which rose by just 1.2. Wandsworth’s overall pass rate at all grades (A-E) increased slightly to 97.3 per cent.
Elliot School made a strong improvement on last year with A-C passes up 4.3 points to 78.3 per cent - the second highest in the borough. The highest results were at Graveney School where 81.6 per cent of all results were A-C passes. The provisional figures will be finalised when the council receives validated results in November.
Some schools made particularly strong progress this year including Southfields Community College where A-C passes were up 13.3 per cent. Battersea Park School and Chestnut Grove performed well with A-C grades rising 10.6 per cent and 7.9 per cent respectively.
Executive member for children and young people's services Kathy Tracey said:
“We’re delighted A-Level results have improved again this year. Our excellent schools and hard-working pupils thoroughly deserve the plaudits for this terrific achievement. “We will continue to strive for further improvements to help even more local young people to make achieve their potential.”
