Portrait Of London Photos Auction

Wandsworth Museum invites bids

Wandsworth Museum’s very successful temporary exhibition, Portrait of London, ends on August 12th, 2012.

The Museum, with the support of the Museum of London, has decided to auction off the framed historic photographs from the ‘London’ portion of the exhibition, while the Wandsworth Borough photographs will be placed back in the Museums archives.

The London images are originally from an exhibition created by the Museum of London that was shown in Beijing during the 2008 Olympics.

From July 12th visitors will be able to place bids on most pictures from the ‘London’ section of the exhibition. The Auction will run for 1 month until the end of the exhibition, with the portraits going to the highest bidder.

Bids for the framed photographs can be placed at the Museum’s reception desk where a list will be available of all the pictures that are up for auction. Bidding will start at £50 for each picture, with all proceeds going to Wandsworth Museum, a registered charity.

The photographs are one-offs professionally framed fine art quality reproductions. Images are Museum of London copyright and cannot be copied or reproduced, prints are for personal /private display only.

Portrait of London runs from now until 12 August, Tuesdays to Sundays 10:00am - 5:00pm plus Late Openings 5 July & 2 August until 9:30pm.
