Wandsworth Arts Festival Begins May 1st

A dazzling three-week programme of local arts performances

More than 40 events will take place from May 1 – 23 embracing everything from theatre productions and film premiers, to live story telling and historic walks.

The festival programme includes full listings plus a handy map to help local art lovers plan their journey from one event to the next.

Many of this year’s events are interactive with audiences being given the chance to take part in performances or have a go a creating their own masterpieces.  Some of the works on display will be for sale – providing a valuable opportunity to buy direct from local artists.

The festival’s showpiece finale will be ‘The Shimmy’ on Sunday 23 May.  This spectacular day of outdoor arts takes place in Wandsworth Park and Putney Wharf and includes dozens of acts, exhibitions and workshops built around the arts festival’s central theme – “Look Again: at yourself, each other, Wandsworth and the wider world…”

The festival is organised by Wandsworth’s arts team in association with local artists and is funded by the Arts Council England.

The aim is to help local residents discover the creative opportunities on their doorsteps, as well as providing the borough’s artists with the opportunity to showcase their work.
