Artists urged to register for Wandsworth Artists’ Open House 2010
The event which is organised by the Wandsworth Arts team, takes place 2/3 and 9/10 October, and is a unique opportunity for professional and amateur artists to showcase and sell work from their home or studio. It also offers the public a glimpse of the artist’s working environment, as well as the chance to engage with them directly.
Now in its eight year, Wandsworth Artists’ Open House is open to artists who live or work in the borough of Wandsworth, and embraces a variety of mediums such as; craft, design, sculpture, painting, jewellery, photography, drawing, film and installation. Many visitors buy their first piece of original artwork at an Open House and return again year after year.
Councillor McDermott said: These weekends give us a rare opportunity to tour the borough’s studios and creative workplaces. It’s absolutely fascinating to see these talented individuals at work and to learn more about the different skills and techniques involved in their trades”.
Last years’ event had 200 participating artists - including the BP Travel award-winner Isobel Peachy and Jerwood Drawing prize nominee Richard White - and attracted over 8,000 visitors to more than 80 venues across the borough.
Shared spaces are usually available to artists who wish to take part but unable to open up their home or studio. The entrance fee of £55/£80 for artists showing on their own/as part of a group sharing a space will also cover a listing space in the event brochure.
Taking part in Artists’ Open House, will enable artists to create opportunities for collaborations, develop new networks and contacts, enhance their profile – as well as receive industry advice and support.
The final deadline for completed registration forms is, 5pm, Friday 11th June 2010.
