Two free fitness courses for kids from 5 -13 year olds starting soon
The free MEND course includes games and swimming, nutritional advice, interactive discussions to teach easy ways to improve your child’s lifestyle and self-confidence, practical demonstrations, games, tips on healthy foods, label reading and portion sizes and a supermarket tour.
The eight-week programme is run by the council and NHS Wandsworth and is aimed at youngsters aged seven to 13. Each family must attend twice a week from 4.30pm to 6.30pm. Sessions are held at Latchmere (Battersea), Tooting and Putney leisure centre. The Latchmere course starts on January 31, the Tooting course on February 1 and the Putney course on February 8.
There is no charge for the course, but the council will need to assess whether your child qualifies based on age, weight and health. This is the final MEND course that will be delivered in the borough.
