Wandsworth MPs Cycling to Brighton for St. George's

Fleur Anderson, MP for Putney and Dr Rosena Allin-Khan, MP for Tooting, are taking on the London to Brighton cycle to raise funds for the Time for a Change children’s appeal run by St George’s Hospital Charity.
The appeal hopes to transform Children’s Services and the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at St George’s Hospital and aims to raise £5 million by 2024. St George’s is the place that parents rely on when the worst happens to their children.
The London to Brighton cycle in September sees thousands of participants cycle 55 miles, either as part of fundraising teams or individually. The MPs will be joined by over 70 fundraisers as part of Team St George’s, ranging from paediatric staff to porters and surgeons.
Places are still available for anyone wanting to join them.
Fleur Anderson said, ‘This is not going to be easy, and it’s the furthest either of us have ever ridden, but we love a challenge, and raising money for the St George’s Trust is such a great cause. So many of us in Putney, Southfields and Roehampton rely on St George’s and Queen Mary’s for treatment and this is a great way to give back.’
Dr Rosena Allin-Khan added, ‘We’re so excited to meet this huge challenge of cycling all the way from Clapham down to the seafront in Brighton. The brilliant the staff at our St George's work tirelessly for their patients, and it’s fantastic that we can help fundraise for this transformation project.’

St George’s Hospital Charity exists to support St George’s Hospital and Queen Mary’s Hospital and the communities they serve. It gives grants and raise funds to improve facilities, provide equipment, enable ground-breaking research and fund an array of arts activities, as well as supporting staff.
In the last year, more than 50,000 people benefited from the work of the charity. It issued grants of £2.3 million across both St George’s and Queen Mary’s Hospitals. Just some of the projects funded include pain distraction devices for children’s wards, bedside music every week to improve morale for long-stay inpatients, and over £400,000 invested towards three separate medical research studies to make a positive impact on patient care.
