Route shortened to provide more reliable link with St George's Hospital

The route of the 493 bus changed this Saturday (12 December).
Transport for London (TfL) is shortening the route so that it no longer serve Manor Circus, Richmond and will terminate at Richmond Bus Station.
The aim of the change is to provide a more reliable daily service between St George’s Hospital and Richmond Bus Station over its existing route.
The route runs from St. George’s Hospital via Wimbledon, Southfields, Putney Heath, Roehampton and East Sheen to Richmond Bus Station.
Route 371 will continue to provide the service between Richmond Bus Station, Richmond Station and the retail area around Richmond, Manor Circus.
There will be no change to the frequency of route 493.
The change is part of a broader reorganisation of bus routes in south west and west London. TFL consulted back in 2018 on proposals to reallocate bus resources to where they said additional capacity was needed in Richmond, Twickenham and Whitton. However negative responses to the consultation and the closure of Hammersmith Bridge made it necessary for them to make amendments.
