The Orange Tree Theatre is closed until further notice
Josh Zaré and Alex Waldman
The current production of The Mikvah Project has been closed as teh theatre closes until further notice. A statement has been released by the theatre:
In yesterday’s press conference the Prime Minister clearly advised people not to go to pubs, clubs, theatres and other venues. Along with other theatres, and in the interest of the health and welfare of everyone who comes through the Orange Tree’s doors, we have therefore made the difficult decision to cancel all OT performances until further notice.
As many will know, the Orange Tree is an independent theatre, not in receipt of any regular core funding from Arts Council England and as such is critically reliant on Box Office income to produce outstanding work year-round.
The implications of closure are therefore particularly serious for the Orange Tree.
Today we are appealing to audiences, to supporters and to the general public: anyone who has experienced the work of the OT, who believes in what we are trying to achieve as an organisation, to share your support at this extraordinary time. There is a facility on the theatre's website to make a one off donation to the theatre.
