First there was Chiswisk, then came Mortlake ...

now Annie's is metamorphosing with a new restaurant Rock & Rose in Richmond

Annie's glamour was exported across the river to Richmond this week with the much anticipated opening of Rock & Rose.

With a décor that’s opulent and decadent Rock & Rose is set to carve out the kind of ‘local institution’ reputation that Annie’s has earned in Chiswick and Barnes. So it comes as no surprise to hear that the woman behind the success of Annie’s and Bill Wyman’s Sticky Fingers, Lorraine Angliss, is also the driving force behind Rock & Rose.

Her inspiration for the new restaurant came from a desire to create a local destination that embodied glamour while offering casual dining and a welcoming ambience. The décor at Rock & Rose draws from a colour palette that balances the more feminine shocking pink tones with the harder-edged masculine feel of silver and black.

Bespoke Swarovski crystal-studded Louis XVI-style chairs bring an air of high glamour to the private room, while a stunning Wedgwood porcelain chandelier and graphic rose-printed Cecil Beaton wallpaper add to the elegance of the main dining area.

The menu takes the familiar and dresses it up with signature Rock & Rose style, offering well loved dishes with a twist. An early favourite is bound to be the Ultimate Surf & Turf, where beef fillet can be found groaning under the weight of giant Madagascan prawns, and lovers of retro puds like Profiteroles with Hot Chocolate Sauce or Vanilla Bean Rice Pudding will be in foodie heaven when the dessert menu hits the table.

The silvery, seductive bar has a cocktail list to tempt even the most virtuous of visitors and it offers a meeting place where friends can gather for a coffee or a cocktail – whatever takes their fancy.

As Lorraine says, “Rock & Rose is the kind of place where you’d be just as comfortable coming by to see us for a drink, having a long, languid lunch or dining by candlelight for a romantic evening. We’ve upped the glamour stakes, but without losing the relaxed ambience that means you can drop in at any time and feel right at home.”

Rock & Rose offers a brasserie-style menu, 7 days a week, from 12 noon to 11pm. There’s a prix fixe menu available Monday to Friday, and a special roast every Sunday. The private room is available for functions and Christmas parties. Reservations can be made on (020) 8948 8008.
