Safer Neighbourhood Teams On Operation Cubo

350 vehicles stopped and 15 vehicles seized

On Thursday 21st June, Wandsworth Safer Neighbourhood officers took part in the Commissioners Met-Wide Operation Cubo.

The aim of the operation was to target vehicles without insurance together with detecting and deterring criminals using the roads.

Targeting vehicles with no insurance or offenders driving not in accordance with their licence allows police to seize the vehicle under Operation Reclaim.

During the day of coordinated action, Wandsworth officers stopped 350 vehicles, seized 15 vehicles, reported 4 drivers for traffic offences and served 22 penalty notice tickets for no insurance and driving not in accordance with their licence.

Driving with no insurance comes with a £200 penalty fine and six points on the licence; driving not in accordance with their licence comes with a £60 penalty fine and 3 points on the licence.

The teams are scheduled to take part in future operations of a similar nature with a view to deterring criminals from coming to Wandsworth to commit crime.
