Who Will Be the New Councillor in Avonmore and Brook Green?

Meet the candidates from three main parties who want your vote on Thursday

As well as the General Election on 8 June, there will also be by-elections in two local wards, Sands End in the south of Fulham and Avonmore and Brook Green in Hammersmith.

In Avonmore and Brook Green, the candidates are:

Will Marshall, Conservative Party
David Morton, Labour Party
Irina Von Wiese, Liberal Democrat Party

All three live within either W6 or W14.

Will was born in Hammersmith in 1979, and lives with his wife on Sinclair Road in West Kensington. He works as a headhunter in Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance investing, and is a school Governor at ARK Swift in the White City Estate.

Having previously volunteered as for a mental health and suicide prevention helpline, he is also a Trustee for the Baron's Court Project, a charity that works with the homeless and mentally ill of Hammersmith. He is also Vice Chairman of the Friends of Marcus Garvey Park.

David Morton has lived in Avonmore and Brook Green for over 30 years and has a record as a resident activist who gets things done. He says he joined Hammersmith and Fulham Labour last year after seeing what the have achieved since being elected in 2014.

David is chair of the local Metropolitan Police Panel and founder and chair of Avonmore Residents Association W14.

As chair of Avonmore Action Group he successfully campaigned against a lap dancing club and Olympia 'apartment hotel' and he successfully worked with the new Labour administration to invest in CCTV in Marcus Garvey Park.

He says by voting for him on 8 June, you get to send the government a very clear message to stop demolishing Charing Cross Hospital and closing our A&E.

Irina, who says she is a European citizen, mum and a long time resident of West London promises to speak up for all those who oppose a hard Brexit, intolerance and xenophobia, to ensure Hammersmith remains open and welcoming to everyone.

She also pledges fight for the survival of Charing Cross Hospital, press for all Hammersmith children to have access to first class, free education and continue the fight against a third runway at Heathrow Airport.

She says: "As a local resident, I will support the protection of public parks and green spaces including Brook Green and Marcus Garvey Park, and step up measures against air pollution on the borough’s most congested streets, such as North End Road. I will work hard to make our streets safer, tackle anti-social behaviour and improve street cleaning.

"As your neighbour, I will put local residents first, not developers and other vested interests, and listen to what you have to say."

Hammersmith and Fulham Council says yellow poll cards for the by-elections in the Avonmore & Brook Green and Sands End wards are being sent out separately

As with the General Election, the poll card is for information only, and you do not need it to vote. As long as you are registered, you can simply give the polling station staff your name and address.

All polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm.
