Margherita fans will be able to order deliveries into the early morning after a local Pizza Hut was granted an extended licence.

The restaurant, on King Street by Ravenscourt Park, had applied to vary its existing licence to enable deliveries beyond 12am. For Sunday to Thursday this would run until 1am, and until 2am Friday and Saturday.

The opening hours, however, would be more restricted, with the premises to close to the public at midnight seven days a week.

A series of conditions were agreed with the Met Police including installing high-definition CCTV, keeping a daily incident log and rolling out staff training. Two objections were submitted during consultation, one from the council’s Noise and Nuisance Team and another from a local resident.

John Garcia, of the Noise and Nuisance Team, warned the restaurant is in a densely inhabited area and that extending the hours “is likely to result in increased disturbance to nearby residents”.

The resident objection raised concerns about not being notified of the proposal despite living nearby.

“This is very much a residential area, with many flats over shops; mopeds collecting orders into the early hours would be especially disruptive and unwelcome.”

At a Hammersmith and Fulham Council Licensing Sub-Committee meeting this week, resident Adam Swift said his concern is due to the restaurant’s location.

He said: “If it was further down towards the gyratory where there’s a lot of licensed premises, that continue until 2 to 3 in the morning, I would totally understand it. But this particular part of King Street, everything is more or less dead quiet after 11pm. So it’s very likely it would give rise to complaints.”

Syed Hussain, Operations Manager at the Pizza Hut, said he understands the restaurant is in a mixed-use area and that deliveries are a concern.

However he reiterated the application is not requesting the premises remain open to walk-ins until the early morning, and that beyond midnight it will be delivery-only.

Following questions from Cllr Callum Nimmo regarding the management of the delivery drivers, Mr Hussain said while they will not be employed by Pizza Hut directly they will be monitored and any issues flagged and resolved.

He said there has been a growing demand for deliveries, rising from 10 to 12 per cent of sales a couple of years ago to 40 to 50 per cent today.

Sub-committee members agreed to grant the licence variation alongside the conditions agreed with the police.

A separate Pizza Hut in Charlton was recently granted later opening hours despite concerns about the behaviour of delivery drivers.

The Charlton Village premises had applied to extend its late-night hours until 1am Sunday to Thursday and 2am Fridays and Saturdays.
