MP hails permanent home for Wandsworth Post Office
Local MP Justine Greening has given a positive response to the news that Wandsworth will finally be getting a permanent Post Office.
The new, open-plan branch will open on 7 July at 54-60 Wandsworth High Street and will replace the two temporary sites in Southside Shopping Centre and at 119 Wandsworth High Street.
Justine said: “It is great news that a new, modern branch will now have a permanent site in Wandsworth. I know how important Post Office services are to local people and I am sure they will benefit from these new premises in central Wandsworth.”
Its facilities include seven counter positions, including a dedicated counter for travel services.
Two self-service kiosks will allow customers to pay for postage, stationery and other retail items and send most mail items without having to queue at the main counter. There will also be a counter for Post Office Fast Drop customers who use the Royal Mail Online Postage service, or the new fast-track Drop and Go service. Entrances with automatic doors and a low level counter and writing desk will mean improved accessibility. It will open from 8.30am to 6pm on Mondays and Tuesdays and from 9am to 5.30pm on Wednesdays to Saturdays.
Justine continued: “I hope that this new branch will be easier and better to use for both local people and businesses in Wandsworth and will be part of the regeneration of this area.”
