Short Film Shows Borough's Frontline Social Workers in Action
Offers insight into the challenges and successes of council staff

A new short film has been released which aims to offer an intimate insight into frontline social work in Hounslow.
Based on real-life experiences and stories of social workers, the piece highlights the impact social workers have on individuals, families and communities. It was produced from interviews with frontline social workers from Childrens and Adults Services.
The documentary hopes to challenge stereotypes around social work and highlight success stories of how social workers are making an impact for vulnerable children and adults across all the borough.
The film was made as part of Hounslow’s strategy to address the shortage of qualified Social Workers in London. By bringing these stories to a wider audience, the filmmakers hope to elevate the importance of social work as a profession and encourage more people to apply.
The team tried to approach each individual story, from topics including children in care to domestic abuse, with respect.
"We wanted to capture the true essence of what it means to be a social worker—the joy, the heartache, the sacrifices, and, most importantly, the moments of success," said Shaff Prabatani, Director of ‘Hounslow Social Work – Where Passion Meets Purpose’ from Know Wonder. "Our goal was to provide a platform for these social workers to share their stories in a way that is raw, honest, and real."

Councillor Samia Chaudhary, Cabinet Member for Education, Children, Skills and Employment said, "‘Hounslow Social Work – Where Passion Meets Purpose’ shines a light on the dedication and resilience of social workers in our community. Social workers are often the unseen forces behind the success stories of our most vulnerable, yet the positive work is rarely documented or shared in mainstream media.
“This week on World Social Work Day, I was able to share in the celebration of the latest generation of newly qualified Social Workers in Hounslow. By bringing their inspiring stories to life, we hope to not only acknowledge the invaluable contributions of our social workers but also inspire a new generation to consider a career in care."
Councillor Lily Bath Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, Public and Health Integration added, "Social workers are the unsung heroes of our society, putting them at the heart of the filming process has allowed the directors to demonstrate the profound difference they can make."
