Labour increase support by over 9,000 as party dominates in London

Labour's Andy Slaughter has been re-elected as Member of Parliament for Hammersmith, winning 33,475 votes and a majority of 18,751.
That was over 9,000 more than the 23,981 he received in the previous General Election in 2015. It was one of several results in West London in which relatively thin majorities were increased significantly including in the neighbouring constituencies of Ealing Central & Acton and Brentford and Isleworth.
Mr Slaughter, who has been the Hammersmith MP since 2010, tweeted @hammersmithandy: "Thank you to all who helped with my campaign in Hammersmith, honoured to be serving another term as the MP for this brilliant constituency."
The was a very high turnout in Hammersmith of 71.9% up from 66% last time out which meant the total number of ballot papers was 52,381.
That was also higher than the previous General Election when the turnout in Hammersmith was 66%.
Conservative candidate Charlie Dewhirst came second, with 14,724 votes a drop of 8.3 percentage points on last time. The Liberal Democrat Joyce Onstad saw a small increase in her vote.
