Parents who want their children to start attending a Wandsworth primary school in September must make sure they submit their applications by the middle of this month.
The important deadline for applications is Friday, January 15. This date applies to all three and four-year-olds born between September 1, 2011 and August 31, 2012.

People can apply for a place at up to six state-run primary schools listing each one in order of preference. These schools can either be in Wandsworth or another borough, but wherever these schools are, parents must submit their applications to their own local council.

Once they have made their choices, the easiest way for parents to submit their application is to do it online at www.wandsworth.gov.uk/admissions. Alternatively they can fill in a paper application form that’s can be downloaded from the website and printed off.
Anyone who wishes to apply for a place at a church or faith school will need to study that school’s admission criteria carefully to make sure they will be eligible for a place.
And parents are being reminded that even if their children are already enrolled in a nursery class at a local primary school, they must still apply for a place in a reception class. Nearly every child being taught in a Wandsworth school is attending either a good or an outstanding one, according to education standards watchdog Ofsted.
Ofsted’s most recent annual report into the quality of schools and teaching in London found that 96 per cent of Wandsworth’s primary schools were classed as either good or outstanding.
This is the second highest best quality score in London and a two percentage point improvement on the previous year.
In 2014 Wandsworth’s primary schools achieved some of the best combined Key Stage 2 reading, writing and maths results in England.
And the proportion of children progressing by at least two levels between Key Stages 1 and 2 is one of the highest in the country. Ninety six per cent of Wandsworth primary pupils improved by at least two levels in writing - the fourth best score in England - while the proportion advancing two levels in reading was 94 per cent, also the fourth highest rating in the country. In maths a 93 per cent score was achieved, the third best result in the country.
Education spokesman Cllr Kathy Tracey said: “Parents in Wandsworth have some really great schools to choose from. Our primaries continue to strongly outperform others across the country, including London, and this is testament to the inspired work of headteachers, teachers, teaching assistants and governors to deliver the best possible education to our young people."
