This year’s festival takes place 23rd May – 7th June
Heritage Wandsworth was established in 2010 to bring together organisations with
an interest in the history, natural heritage and built environment of Wandsworth.
Heritage Wandsworth has been heavily involved in the planning of the Heritage
Festival and in encouraging new activities which celebrate and promote the heritage
of the borough.
There are various activities through out the borough, and you can pick up a copy of the programme from any Wandsworth library, and it is also available to download here.
The local history and archives collection is located in the Wandsworth Heritage Service on the first floor of Battersea Library. The search room is open for visitors. Heritage staff can provide help with enquiries on local and family history.
A wide
range of material is available – from books and local newspapers on microfilm, to
maps, original archives and photographs. To view archive material please try to let
staff know in advance, as it is not always possible to retrieve material on the day.
Donations to the archives are welcome; particularly any material which illustrates or
relates to the very diverse communities, within Wandsworth.
