Awards designed to celebrate the borough’s entrepreneurial spirit
The search is on to find the borough’s business success stories in the newly-launched Wandsworth Business Awards, led by Wandsworth Chamber of Commerce.
The new awards, designed to celebrate the borough’s entrepreneurial spirit, were launched at a meeting of Wandsworth Business Forum which also highlighted key developments in such as the potential opportunities being generated by the development at Nine Elms.
Steve Pinto, chairman of Wandsworth Chamber of Commerce, said:
“It is vitally important to celebrate those companies which contribute to making Wandsworth such a vibrant place in which to work, live and do business. This success has been built, in no small part, on its transformation from a traditional industrial centre into a hive of small businesses. With more than 13,000 VAT payers in Wandsworth we have one of the largest communities of small businesses in the country.
“Part of the Chamber’s role is to support this entrepreneurial spirit and to promote mutual support which can help businesses and new start-ups in the borough to prosper. We hope these awards will inspire other would-be entrepreneurs to fulfil their potential.”

Commitment to the Community Awards,

Best New Business and

Restaurant of the Year,
all entrants also being considered for the overall Business of the Year accolade.
Awards director Ross Feeney said:
“This new venture by the Wandsworth Chamber of Commerce has been set up to encourage and inspire business and enterprise. We all know about the difficult economic climate, but it’s not all doom and gloom. Many businesses are winning more work, expanding, employing more staff and providing the green shoots of economic recovery.
“Business awards identify and champion those green shoots and reinforce the message that Wandsworth is open for business. There is a category for everyone to enter and remember, luck is not as random as you think. Before that winning lottery ticket won the jackpot, someone had to buy it.”
Registration for the awards is now open with entry packs to be sent out in March. The closing date for the awards is June 8 and judging will take place in early September.
