A call for artists & makers for new monthly market selling quality Art & Design-led Craft
Wandsworth Borough Council with the Putney Town Centre Partnership Board have announced that a unique quality Art and Design-led Craft market is to take place on the Putney Embankment. It will run from the 4th May 2014 and will continue on the first Sunday of the month throughout the year.
The market will be managed by SMT Management Consultants who run the hugely successful Winchester Art Market (third Sunday of the month). Winchester has grown over the last 4 years from 19 artists to over 80 per month with a sustainable footfall who appreciate and buy the work and the aim is to replicate it at Putney.
Offering the customer original quality work from the best emerging artistic and established talent from across Wandsworth and beyond. All work for sale must be original so the public can be sure to buy with confidence whether its fine art (contemporary & traditional), ceramics, mixed media, graphics, glass, jewellery, photography, textiles, wood carving/furniture, sculpture, illustration etc.
A stall will cost £50 and this includes a 3mtre square gazebo with weights and side sheets (when required). The artist will need to supply the table, and/or display structure (you can get 3 x 6ft tables inside and space to invite customers). Advice can be given on ways to display artwork for maximum impact (if required). The space can be shared amongst a group of artists (with one key person being the contact).
All artists will be asked to submit an application form and there will be a selection process so that the organisers can offer a wide range of work to the general public. Preference will be given to Wandsworth based artists but it is open to all. As a stallholder you will require public liability insurance, this can be arranged quite cheaply please ask for details if you don’t have it.
A spokesman said:
"The market will be promoted widely across London across media forms and we encourage artists to disseminate information to their own mailing lists. We want the market to become known as ‘the’ place to buy quality pieces from both emerging artistic talent as well as established."
