The fundraiser has the backing of Boris Johnson, who in offered strong words of support for both the charity and the ‘Walking out of Darkness’ initiative. He said: “I would like to take this opportunity to extend my warmest good wishes to all connected with the event. This affects us all, though unfortunately there are still many misconceptions about what mental health is, how it happens and what can be done about it. There is much we are doing to improve our mental health and prevent suicides, and I applaud CLASP’s work to help Londoners who are struggling in this way.”
