London elections – your chance to decide

deadline to register to vote is April 16th - or you will lose your right to vote

Elections for the Mayor of London and the London Assembly will be held on Thursday, May 1. Anyone wishing to vote that day has until Wednesday, April 16 to register.

People who returned their electoral forms to the town hall last autumn should already be on the register of voters - but those who did not respond, have just moved to the borough, or recently changed addresses within Wandsworth - will need to register before April's deadline if they wish to vote that day.

People can check to see if they are registered by calling the electoral registration service on 020 8871 6023 (voice only) or 020 8871 6024 (textphone only) or by emailing electoral@wandsworth.gov.uk.

If you wish to vote by post at these elections you must submit an application form by a strict deadline of 5pm on Wednesday, April 16.

This deadline also applies to anyone who wants to cancel an existing postal vote or proxy facility. To do this you must provide a signed letter stating that you no longer wish to vote this way.

Polling cards will be hand delivered to all eligible voters by Sunday, March 30.

These will indicate if you have a postal or proxy vote facility set up and give you time to cancel this if you wish.
