Dynamic Southfields comedy to bring two nights of improvised mayhem to The Arches
Up For It unites seasoned improvisers Elaine Wallace and Lesley Stone for two evenings of hilarious theatre based on audience stories, suggestions and props.
Stone, from Southfields, is a familiar face at the Wandsworth Fringe having won the Spirit of the Fringe award for last year’s sell out musical comedy Be Prepared! in which she played a hapless Girl Guide.
The show then transferred to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where the Fringe Review described Stone as ‘a natural comedian who uses her considerable charm to win the hearts of her delighted audience’ in a four-star review.
Wallace performed her one-woman show Unleashed at the Camden Fringe in 2017 and will play the lead role in South African play Wirework at London’s Tristan Bates Theatre in July.
An acclaimed actress, musician and composer, Stone has worked in film, television, theatre and radio. Credits range from playing Homily Clock in The Borrowers at the Polka Theatre, Wimbledon, Miss Prism in The Importance of Being Earnest at the Wimbledon Studio and national tours with Clean Break Theatre Company playing Simone in Didn’t Die. Other productions have taken her to the Traverse and Lyceum Theatres in Edinburgh. She played Evelyn Glennie’s mother in the British tour of Playing from the Heart. Films include ManDancin’ and she has also appeared in and written songs for popular children’s TV shows Playdays for the BBC and CBBC’s Topsy and Tim.
Wallace has played the leads in Annie, Fiddler on the Roof, and 42nd Street (Drury Lane). She appeared in Miss Julie at the Lyric Theatre with Stephen Rea. Her own show, An Evening with Mitzi Wildebeest received rave reviews including from the Evening Standard who said ‘Wallace hangs on her ability to work an audience and this she does with quick wit and an infectious energy’. The show also toured Europe, the Edinburgh Fringe and was filmed for IKON TV. Wallace also gave ‘a totally knock out performance’ (Robin Thornber) in Sam Jacobs’ Would the Real Judy Garland Please…. which toured festivals in the UK and Europe and was filmed for Granada TV.
