Marking the official opening of the RHN Archive Service
Go along to this conference on 4 October, to discover
more about the history of the Royal
Hospital for Neuro-disability (formerly the
Royal Hospital of Incurables).
Attendees will learn what life was like for Victorian “inmates”, about the hospital and have an
opportunity to view and explore artefacts
and documents in the heritage collection.
The conference will also include talks from
historians and archivists exploring the
wider context of 19th century disability
history including papers on ‘incurablity’ in
workhouse asylums, treatment and care of
people with learning disabilities and
representations of tuberculosis patients.
