bringing co-ordinators closer to the community
The
current stop smoking service that covers the three boroughs of Merton,
Sutton and Wandsworth is in the process of becoming a new Wandsworth only
service with co-ordinators that will work much closer with the stop smoking
advisors out in the community. This will mean that the service can be
more responsive to local needs by targeting particular communities, running
group meetings closer to people’s homes and working closely with
GP practices and community groups.
The service known as ‘give up 4 good’ offers one-to-one help
with a community advisor, this could be a local
doctor,
nurse or pharmacist, or if you think giving up in a group would be easier
then you can get booked onto the next available local session. People
that use their free local NHS stop smoking service are four times more
likely to give up for good.
You can contact the service the same as before at Clare House, in St.
George’s Hospital, Blackshaw Road, Tooting SW17 OQT.
