'Spirit and Place' - An Exhibition of Quaker Art


Part of the Wandsworth Artists Open House weekend

This October there is an exhibition of work by local Quaker artists, showing how they respond to their Quaker spiritual experience and to the peace of the historic Meeting House and its urban environment.

The diverse exhibition will include paintings, prints, sculpture, textiles, photographs and artists’ books.

The Exhibition will open daily from Saturday 1 October until Sunday 9 October at Wandsworth Quaker Meeting House, 59 Wandsworth High Street, SW18 2PT.

Exhibition Opening Times:
Saturday 1 October 11am - 6pm
Sunday 2 October 1- 6 pm
Monday 3 October 6 -7.30 pm
Tuesday 4 October 1 -3pm*
Wednesday 5 October 4 - 7pm
Thursday 6 October noon - 3pm
Friday 7 October 4 - 7pm
Saturday 8 October 11am- 6 pm
Sunday 9 October 1 - 6pm

*A Meeting for Worship will take place on Tuesday 4 October 12.30 - 1pm (doors open at noon).
Visitors are welcome for that, before the Art Exhibition opens. Regular Meeting for Worship takes place as usual on Sundays 10.30 - 11.30.

A number of special events will accompany the exhibition:

Monday 3 October, 8.00 pm (refreshments from 7.30pm): 'Trills and Tribulations' - An evening of recorder music and readings exploring Quakers’ changing views about music since the 1600s.

Saturday 8th October 10.30 - 12.30 (arrivals from 10am): Art and Spirituality workshop - A guided, ‘hands on’ workshop, responding to the exhibition and the venue using simple arts and crafts activity. Led by Linda Murgatroyd of the Art and Spirituality Network. No artistic experience needed; materials provided. Free, but advance booking essential -artandspirituality.net

All welcome; entrance free.

The exhibition is part of the Wandsworth Artists Open House weekends.
