Putney High School Sings Up For The Voice Festival UK
Raising awareness of a cappella singing to a wider audience and funds for local charity
The local school has played a large part in getting the festival to happen this year as it was in danger of not going ahead. As a highly musical school, teachers at Putney saw this as an important opportunity to raise awareness of a cappella singing and lead the charge to not only ensure the festival could go ahead, but bring it to a wider audience.
Money raised will go to support the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability and the Voice Festival UK.
What is a capella? A cappella is technically defined as singing without instrumental accompaniment, some groups use their voices to emulate instruments; others are more traditional and focus on harmonizing. A cappella styles range from gospel music to contemporary to barbershop quartets and choruses.
