Trustees appoint new Headmistress to Putney High School
The Trustees of the Girls’ Day School Trust have announced the appointment of Mrs Suzie Longstaff as Headmistress of Putney High School GDST from September 2015. This follows the retirement of Dr Denise Lodge after 13 years at Putney.
Mrs Longstaff has been Acting Headmistress at Putney for the past year while Dr Lodge took a sabbatical to care for her sick husband. During this time, Mrs Longstaff has inspired the trust and confidence of the Putney High School community, earning the respect and affection of the girls.
Mrs Longstaff joined Putney High School in 2009 as Head of Sixth Form before being promoted to Deputy Head (Academic).
Mrs Longstaff said:
“I am absolutely thrilled and delighted to be appointed as Headmistress of one of the country’s leading girls’ schools. Putney High School is a successful, forward thinking and energetic environment. I look forward to building on this as I work closely with all members of the school community.”
Mrs Longstaff read Economics at Durham and gained her PGCE specialising in Maths at the University of Cambridge. She has a passion for lifelong learning, has a Diploma in Computing from the University of Oxford and has recently been awarded her MA in Education from the University of Bath.
Before joining the teaching profession, Mrs Longstaff had a successful rowing career with highlights including coxing the GB Women’s VIII at the Atlanta Olympics in 1996.
