His Majesty King Charles III paid a visit to the Polish Social and Cultural Association (POSK) in Hammersmith last Wednesday (5 February).
His arrival on King Street came shortly after he had travelled to Poland to attend the commemorations for Holocaust Memorial Day in Auschwitz-Birkenau, after which he had expressed a wish to meet members of the Polish community in London.
During his visit he mingled with around 100 members of POSK and its staff from all walks of life including Second World War veteran 101-year old Eugeniusz Niedzielski, who served with the Polish 1st Armoured division and took part in the liberation of France and Holland. The King personally thanked him for his service.
King Charles was given a guided tour of an exhibition by the Polish wartime artist Feliks Fabian and was served pierogi, a Polish dumpling as well as being shown national dress and music.
