Council Photo competition with prize fund of £1150
Amateur photographers are invited to compete in the council’s photo competition - photoWANDSWORTH09.
The competition is open to anyone who lives, works or studies full time in the borough.
With three categories to enter and a special prize for young people 25 and under, there’s something to inspire everyone to take part.
The ‘Open’ category can be on any subject so long as the shots are taken in Wandsworth. It’s a great excuse to take a ‘photowalk’ down the sunny streets of Putney, to snap the glittering Thames along the riverside, or capture the hustle and bustle of a hot market day in Tooting.
Wandsworth’s arts spokesman Cllr Paul Ellis said: “The ‘Open’ section is a fantastic opportunity for amateur photographers to showcase their work. Some previous winners have become professionals and we are delighted that participating in this competition was part of their journey. We are expecting some stunning images in this category.”
This year’s ‘Snapshot’ category can be of anything, anywhere so long as they relate to the theme - ‘The Funny Side of Life’. Judges will be looking for shots that make them laugh and the winner will pick up a £150 prize and a personalised reproduction of their entry.
Groups in Wandsworth are invited to submit collections of photographs on the theme ‘My Life My World’. Images should have a connection with each other, in style or as a response to the theme and can be presented separately, or as a montage. Schools, youth clubs and summer schemes are especially welcome to enter.

The deadline for entries is September 9.
An exhibition of selected photos and winning entries will be on display as part of Wandsworth Artists’ Open House, October 3 - 4.
