Come & Sing American Choral Music promises an inspiring afternoon immersed in the sound, spirit and sheer variety of the American choral tradition.

On Saturday 7 February, Petros Singers join forces with the acclaimed conductor Graham Ross at St Peter’s Church on Black Lion Lane in Hammersmith, inviting singers of all backgrounds to explore five landmark works that chart the evolution of American choral music across the 20th century.

From the radiant optimism of Leonard Bernstein’s Make Our Garden Grow to the hushed introspection of Randall Thompson’s *Alleluia, the programme reflects a musical culture shaped by faith, folk song, European influence and bold modern experimentation.

Participants will sing James Erb’s tender arrangement of Shenandoah, the glowing serenity of Morten Lauridsen’s O magnum mysterium, and the shimmering, dream-like harmonies of Eric Whitacre’s Sleep, each piece offering its own distinctive sound world and emotional landscape.

Guided by Graham Ross’s expertise and infectious enthusiasm, the workshop runs from 2.00–6.00pm, concluding with an informal performance open to friends and family.

Tickets for the workshop cost £30 or £20 for those aged between 16 and 30.

For further information about this concert and workshop, to book tickets, or if you are interested in joining the choir, see its website.
