Missed out on the Flora Marathon ballot? NAS has 90 guaranteed places up for grabs
With an NAS place, you can look forward to running 26.2 miles past some of London’s most famous sights whilst knowing that you’re helping to raise awareness of and funds for the over half a million people in the UK with autism.
In return all we ask is that you raise a minimum of £1600 in sponsorship money. As an extremely valued member of the NAS team you’ll receive training and fundraising support every step of the way. Plus we’ll be there on the day to cheer you on from our supporters’ area and welcome you, your friends and family, to our post race reception at One Whitehall, complete with showers and masseurs.
Liane Griffin, who completed the London Marathon in 2008 for the NAS, said: “I chose to run for the NAS because autism is much more common than many other conditions which get far more attention. The support I received from the charity before, during the after the race was second to none. There was only one thing more rewarding than passing the finish line and that was knowing I’d raised a bundle for people with autism which is a serious, lifelong and disabling condition. I would urge anyone thinking for running the 2009 Flora London Marathon for the NAS to go for it!”
In 2008 an incredible 130 NAS runners raised a fantastic £247,000 which went towards providing NAS services including the Autism Helpline, Advocacy for Education service, Befriending scheme, Parent to Parent support service and help! Programme. Next year with your help, the charity could raise even more.
For information on running for the NAS call the running team on 08450 509 001 or visit www.getmilesmore.org.uk (closing date for entries is September 30th 2008).
