TB Screening In Wandsworth

all drug users in the borough are encouraged to attend

A special TB screening event for drug users will be taking place in Wandsworth later this month. The Wandsworth Drug Project is hosting the event on behalf of the local NHS and all drug users in the borough are encouraged to attend and get screened for the disease. The temporary screening clinic will be open in the afternoon on Tuesday 30 September in a mobile unit in the car park of Sainsbury’s supermarket at 45 Garratt Lane, Tooting.

As an additional incentive, everyone who gets screened will receive a £5 Sainsbury’s supermarket voucher. Food and soft drinks will also be available nearby in the Wandsworth Drug Project office on the ground floor of Mapleton Medical Centre which is based at 92 Garratt Lane. Drug advisors will be on hand at the Wandsworth Drug Project office to offer support to drug users who need advice or help.

Anne Middleton, clinical nurse specialist at Wandsworth Teaching PCT, said “It’s important that we run screening events such as this one because we need to make sure we safeguard the health of all Wandsworth residents. I hope that people who use drugs, either on a regular or occasional basis, will make the most of this opportunity to get screened for TB.”
