Edwardian Garden Party at Fulham Palace
Sunday 19 June from 1pm to 4pm
Fulham Palace was well known for its garden parties when it was the home of the Bishop of London. The tradition is carrying on with a Edwardian Garden Party on Sunday 19 June, from 1pm to 4pm.
Entrance is free at this event for the whole family to enjoy.
The fun activities will include swing boats, face painting, storytelling, garden & parlour games, tombola and crafts – with musical entertainment from a ragtime band. There will also be a tree trail and a plant sale.
No booking is needed. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Looking ahead to the Palace’s future, there will be the chance to combine enjoyment of the Garden Party with a visit to the special exhibition on our major restoration project: “Discovering the Bishop of London’s Palace at Fulham”. Open from 9.30am to 5pm, this is the final day of the exhibition. Visitors will have the opportunity to see the plans, talk to the designers and share their thoughts.
Fulham Palace is the historic home of the Bishops of London. For centuries, the Palace and surrounding estate served as a country retreat for the bishops and their families before becoming the bishop’s permanent residence in the early 20th century.
The last bishop moved out in 1973, and the Palace and 13 acre botanical garden are now managed by Fulham Palace Trust, an independent charity dedicated to the ongoing preservation, restoration and interpretation of this historically important site.
The Palace is now at a critical and exciting time in its long history and Fulham Palace Trust would very much like local residents to be involved in shaping its future.
