The aim of the group is to represent the interests and concerns of the park users
Following a successful meeting in June organised by the Putney Society to address the potential of setting up a Wandsworth Park interest group, a group of us met at a follow up meeting in July to discuss our thoughts and ideas around the idea. The result was a unanimous agreement to create a local and independent group called "Friends of Wandsworth Park" with the aim of representing the interests and concerns of the park users with WBC and within the wider community.
There are a lot of people who use the park and certainly have strong opinions and suggestions to make it a great place for us all. I had a subsequent meeting with Jerry Birtles and Valerie Selby of the Council Parks Department with John Horrocks of the Putney Society, to discuss if there is value and interest on their part to work with such a group. It appears there is and we would now like to commence the formal process of forming such.
We have chosen the 16th September at 7.30pm in the upstairs room at The Cat's Back Pub 86-88 Point Pleasant, London SW18 1NN for our next meeting where we can take this forward and I can report back on the meeting with the council. Please would those that are available and interested join us. We are determined to make this a far-reaching and inclusive group and need enthusiastic people and ideas to make it worthwhile.
Please spread the word and join us for this session. We look forward to making this a successful endeavour.
