Plan your Big Lunch street party
The Big Lunch is less than two months away, and neighbours that want to get together and organise a street party are urged to get their application in as soon as possible.

The Big Lunch on Sunday June 7 is a nationwide initiative designed to encourage people to get to know their neighbours and build strong communities.
Research after last year’s event showed that 85 per cent of people said their Big Lunch made them feel better about their neighbourhood and 86 per cent felt closer to their neighbours.
Wandsworth is keen to encourage people to hold street parties and has slashed fees and red tape. A flat-rate fee of £50 goes towards the costs of drawing up the legal notices. Road closure signs and cones can be hired from the council.
Residents are also advised to alert their local police safer neighbourhood team. Find your local team at Putney / Wandsworth.
The council has put a step-by-step guide on its website to help street party organisers. This includes a road closure application form. Go to www.wandsworth.gov.uk/streetparties.
