The Arch to Arc challenge is raising funds for Maggie's Centres
The local dads are part of a team of 12 who decided, in moment of weakness, to tackle the London to Paris in under 24 hours cycle ride on 10 June 2011...a ride of about 245 miles (depending upon who is navigating). This challenge is not for the faint hearted.
The team comprises Putney's Edward Hayter, Pete Latham, Mark McGhee, Iain Stanton, John Handley, Iain Anstess, Martin Bean, Stuart Forbes from Putney, Michael Kennedy again an SW15'er, Dafydd Pugh, Rob Pendleton and Mark Beaumont (who tends to cycle a bit...last trip was over 13,000 miles!)...and a support team of Sheryl Haddow, Sophie Reed and Simon Quilty...and a van.
The team at LDC have supported Maggie's Centres for the past 2 years and we would welcome any support you can give to this worthy cause.
Maggie’s Centres are calm, uplifting, inspiring places, where people come to feel at home, to find friendship, solace and practical help. People can access information on cancer and its treatment, emotional support, confidential counselling and advice.

Local architect Stuart told PutneySW15.com:
"It is certainly going to be a tough challenge to do the Arch to Arc in under 24 hours. It's very different from our usual sprints round Richmond Park or tours of the Surrey countryside, or even cycling up enormous mountains, which comes later this year! But we have a great team of guys and should have a few laughs along the way and we are raising awareness and money for a brilliant charity so we hope that this will inspire us through the tougher moments, particularly as we grind through the hours of darkness from Calais en route to Paris! Please do sponsor us if you can via our just giving page".
