Get in touch and #SupportAdoption
|
Can you give a child a new start? This week (October 16-22) is National Adoption Week, and Wandsworth Council is asking people who are considering adoption to think about offering two or more siblings a secure, loving home.
The theme of the week is #SupportAdoption, and the aim is to demystify the adoption process, share stores and encourage people to open their homes to some of society’s most vulnerable children.
In Wandsworth Council there are lots of families who have adopted, or who are in the process of adopting, brothers and sisters. The council works with other local authorities and agencies to find the best match for the children who are waiting for families.
Almost half of the children waiting for adoption are part of a sibling group – the majority are a pair of siblings.
Matt and Carol adopted a brother and sister aged four and six. Carol said: “They definitely keep us busy but we would not want it any other way. We just love being a family.”
If you want to find out more, contact the Wandsworth Council adoption team for an informal chat or attend an information event on Thursday, 26 October 2017, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.
Book your place, or get in touch with the team by visiting their webpage, or call them today on (020) 8871 7184.
