Our next public ward meeting will be held on Tuesday 11th
November 2008 at 7pm at Putney High School, Putney Hill.
There is an open invitation for all local residents to come along
and meet your local Safer Neighbourhoods Team (SNT).
Motor Vehicle Crime
We are aware that in the last couple of months there has been a
rise in motor vehicle crime on our ward. We are committed to
bringing this down but we are limited without your help. PLEASE
follow these guidelines to keep your vehicle as safe and free
from the risk of crime as possible:
- Don’t leave anything on display in your car such as ‘sat navs’
including its bracket, personal documents, loose change, mobile
phones, laptops or other valuables.
- Wipe away suction pad marks from the windscreen, as thieves
will look out for these.
- Take all your belongings with you when you leave the car, even
if it’s only for a couple of minutes.
- Empty your glove compartment and leave the compartment
open to show that there is nothing of value inside.
- Lock all doors, windows and sunroofs. During the summer
months people easily forget to do this.
- Remove your stereo if possible and any CDs that are visible.
Mosque Tour
Members of The London Mosque along with PC Tanghe and
PCSO Brownlow took Hendon police students for a tour of the
Mosque in Gressenhall Road. This was an opportunity for the
students to ask questions and gain a better understanding of the
Ahmadiyya Muslim community. This visit was aimed at improving the quality of service new officers will deliver to the many diverse London communities when responding to future incidents.
Drugs In The Lower Ashburton Estate
In June the combined resources of the East Putney SNT and a
Territorial Support Group (TSG) Rapid Entry Team executed a
drugs search warrant in Whitnell Way, SW15. Our team then
undertook letter drops throughout the estate to both inform and
reassure the local community regarding positive police action to
complaints received by the SNT from concerned residents
regarding drug dealing.

response team. 999 should always be used if there is any
danger, or risk to life, or a crime is in progress.
To improve your access to all Metropolitan Police services in
non-emergency situations, we have introduced a new easy to
remember contact number: 0300 123 1212.
Visit the Met’s new crime mapping website and find out more
about crime in your local area enabling you to take an active role in
making your community safer, http://maps.met.police.uk/
If you have information about crime in your area and you’d rather
not speak to the police, you can give information anonymously to
Crimestoppers on 0800 555111. Crimestoppers is an independent
charity.
