Book of Condolence Marks Polish Air Disaster
As borough commiserates with their Polish neighbours
A book of condolence has been opened at Wandsworth Town Hall in the wake of last Saturday’s Polish air disaster in which 95 people lost their lives.
Poland's president, first lady, MPs, central bank governor, leading historians and senior members of the armed forces were among the victims.
The delegation was traveling to Russia to attend a World War II memorial service when their plane crashed while trying to land.
Wandsworth has a long established Polish community which numbers several thousand residents.
The book is on display at Wandsworth Register Office at the Town Hall where it can be signed by local people.
The Register Office is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
