In a letter to Richard Tracey, Assembly Member for Wandsworth & Merton, Garrett Emmerson COO of TfL Surface Transport praised London residents for their tolerance regarding transport during the London 2012 Olympic Games:
""It will take us a couple of days to make the changes following the decommissioning of the Olympic route network at midnight tonight (Tuesday 14th). However everyone should start to see a difference pretty quickly. I wholeheartedly agree that Londoners have been fantastically tolerant of the changes we've had to make to deliver a successful Olympic Route Network, for which we at TfL are very appreciative.

Mr Emmerson continued:
"We do of course still have to 'do it all again' for the Paralympics. Although obviously not as big in scale as the Olympics, with no central or west London sporting venues, the complication of the Paralympics is of course that it takes place at a time when the schools are going back and there is proportionally more regular traffic on the roads. However the paralympic route network (PRN) is much smaller than the ORN and only has 8.7 miles of roads with games lanes - none West of the City of London. you should therefore see proportionally less effect in the Wandsworth area."
